CowaLUNGa!!
July 24, 2007Rachel & I are going to do CowaLUNGa this year. It is a 190 mile ride over 3 days and it should totally rule. If you can donate to the Respiratory Health Assoc. of Chicago that would be great. We’re trying to raise a stack of bills for a terrific organization. More info here.
The real question is what to ride. I’m trying to decide between riding my cyclocross bike or my commuter bike as a fixed gear. On one hand it is a pretty long ride and there are definitely hills in WI. The other hand is that my right leg is still weak and I need to build back up if I’m going to be at all competitive this season. Speaking of which…
ONLY 62 DAYS UNTIL THE START OF ‘CROSS!!!
Slacking Off as Usual
July 24, 2007
If there’s one thing I hate is when you log in to your favorite blog and the slacker hasn’t posted anything new in forever. What’s up with that?!
So yes I am that slacker it has been almost a month since my last post. A lot has been going on. The short version is that the iPhone got released, work has been crazy, I’ve been biking more & more, and the Tour De France is in full swing (and I know everyone has been watching).
In other news:
- I have seasonal allergies in that when things are alive & blooming I suffer. When everything is dead & buried in the heart of winter I can breathe easy which maybe why I like cyclocross so much. I have been seeing a allergist and the picture above is their door handle. I may have to get some surgery done which means in the future you can vote on the shape of my new nose. If I had my way I’d have two, just in case.
- Naz has started a flickr group entitled The Items We Carry which is impressive in that people carry a lot of pretty bulky things in their pockets. You’ve already seen what I carry in my bag, well here’s what I carry on my person:

click on the picture above and you can go to flickr and view the notes.
- I’ve been working on my friend’s John & Kelly’s wedding invitations. They turned out really well especially the color choices they had. I’ll post finished invitations when they’re all printed.
CowaLUNGa
July 24, 2007What: CowaLUNGA is a 3-day ride that raises money for the Respiratory Health Assoc. of Chicago (Formally the American Lung Assoc.).
The Route: We start in Gurnee Mills, IL home of Six Flags Great America and a large mall with a JC Penny Outlet and then we ride up through Lake Geneva, Whitewater, and end up in Hubertus which is home to a place called CampACTION! which sounds frighteningly awesome. The total route is 190 miles long. Yowza!
Sponsor Us: Rachel and I need to raise $550 or more. The Respiratory Health Assoc is a great group that Rachel works for and as someone who has suffered from asthma I can tell you not being able to breathe is a total drag. If you’d like to help sponsor us with a donation go to our CowaLUNGA team page. You can donate a minimum of 5 bucks and I promise I won’t give you the stink eye if that’s all you donate.
Thighs of BRUTALITY: That’s the name of our team I am being completely serious.
