Did you see the movie Capote? I thought it was fascinating- especially if you like the book, make sure you see it. It’s sort of Truman’s biography from around the time he wrote In Cold Blood.

Wow, no Wolfe love? That’s so mainstream. Bonfire is such an amazing satire of what class structure life was like in the ’80s, how can you not eat it up? (OK, forget about the movie, but the book is fantatstic)

I’m always a big fan of looking at people’s book collections. What books a person owns, or the lack thereof, say so much about a person, who they are, what they think. You’ve inspired me to document my massive collection and throw it out onto the Internet for bashing.
Also, I have to agree with Chris: ‘Bonfire’ is a great book. I’ve never seen the movie, so my memory of it is still reasonably favorable.
I will offer that Paluhniuk is overrated – and his best stuff is still never really all that good. I loved ‘Fight Club,’ but I think that’s because the movie is one of my favorite films.

Wolfe: I’ve tried reading “Bonfire” 3 or 4 time and just couldn’t get into it. If you haven’t already read “The Devil’s Candy” which is a terrific book which details the making of the movie. Really, really good.
On the other hand I absolutely love his book “The Right Stuff.” Partly because the writing was not as Wolfe-ish and because space is awesome.
Palahniuk: I think he is only an ok writer, but I thought “Survivor” was totally brilliant.
Capote: Saw it, good movie.
Dictionary: Yeah sorry about that Rachel
I would definitely be interested in other peoples’ collections
